How To Enter The House Of Hope BG3 Complete Guide

In Baldur's Gate 3, entering the House of Hope is one of the most exciting late-game ventures in Act 3. This dangerous domain belongs to the devil Raphael and holds powerful artifacts, key quest items, and legendary encounters. Players looking to reclaim their souls or steal the Orphic Hammer must navigate a specific ritual to open the gateway to Avernus.
Locating the Devil's Fee in Lower City
To begin your journey into Raphael's realm, you must first travel to the Lower City of Baldur's Gate. Head toward the northern section near the Lower City Central Wall waypoint to find a unique shop named the Devil's Fee. Inside, you will meet Helsik, a diabolist who holds the secret knowledge required to open a portal directly into the House of Hope.
You can negotiate with Helsik to obtain the ritual instructions and necessary reagents. She will ask for a high fee or a percentage of the loot, though clever players can also pickpocket her or find alternative clues upstairs. Once you have secured the required materials, head up to the top floor of the shop to prepare the summoning circle.
Gathering the Required Ritual Items
Opening the portal requires five specific items arranged on a bloody pentagram drawn on the floor. You will need a Skull, a Coin of Mammon, a Diamond, Incense, and an Infernal Marble. If you choose not to buy them directly, all of these items can be found scattered in pouches and chests on the upper level of the shop.
Be careful while exploring the upper floor, as there are hidden traps and wards guarding the area. Disarming these hazards ensures your party remains at full strength before entering the hells. Make sure every character is fully prepared and rested before starting the ritual.
Placing Items on the Ritual Circle
To open the portal correctly, you must place each ritual item on a precise point of the star. Position the Skull on the point closest to the desk, and place the Coin of Mammon on the next point moving clockwise. Skip one point and place the Diamond, follow it with the Incense on the next point, and drop the Infernal Marble directly in the center.
When each item is placed correctly, it will ignite with magical flames to indicate success. A glowing red portal will open in the center of the room, creating a direct path into Avernus. Step through the portal when your party is ready to begin exploring the House of Hope.
Preparing for the House of Hope
Once you cross over, fast travel back to your camp will be disabled until you return through the portal. You will immediately meet Hope, an NPC who can disguise your party as debtors so you can move around without triggering immediate fights. Taking time to explore stealthily allows you to gather powerful gear before taking on Raphael's final challenge.
